Cleaning management for rentals: how to streamline your team's work
Cleaning is one of the most important processes in short-term rentals. It affects guest experience, reviews and whether a property is ready for the next booking. See how to organise it in Simplevent.

TL;DR
- Every cleaning request is linked to a property and reservation.
- To do / In progress / Done statuses organise the team's work.
- Managers assign tasks; cleaners receive an email and notification.
- The CLEANING module is available in the Free plan at no extra cost.
Why cleaning needs a system, not sticky notes
Phone calls, messages and notes on a desk are how most cleaning information circulates today. The result? Nobody knows who is going to the property, whether the task is current and whether cleaning was actually completed. A system turns that loose information into one request with an owner, status and history.
Requests linked to a property and reservation
Every cleaning request is linked to a specific property and, when created from a reservation, to the guest stay. Managers see arrival and departure dates, guest count and notes. Cleaners no longer have to ask which apartment a task belongs to or when the next guest arrives.
Statuses that organise the working day
To do means cleaning is waiting. In progress shows the cleaner has started. Done confirms the task is complete. If a reservation has no request yet, the system shows Not set — and the cleaner can start cleaning directly from the reservation modal.
Managers assign, cleaners execute
A manager creates a request in the /cleaning centre or directly from a reservation in EventFormV12. They pick a cleaner from users with CLEANER permission for that property, add notes and save. The cleaner receives an email and a CleaningBell notification, then updates status with one click when starting and finishing.
Fewer calls, fewer mistakes, better reviews
One request register reduces calls and 'has anyone been there?' questions. Managers see what is to do, in progress and done. They can resend the assignment email, and owners can request cleaning from the reservation. Everyone works from the same data, so fewer things get lost between messages.
How to roll out cleaning in a rental company
Start with one rule: every cleaning goes to /cleaning, not a private chat. Give the team CLEANER and MANAGER or ADMIN permissions. Agree on note standards: guest count, linen, towels, extra supplies. Review To do requests every morning and In progress tasks during shift handover. The CLEANING module is included in the Free plan.
Frequently asked questions
Does a cleaner see all cleaning requests?
No. Cleaners see only tasks assigned to them. Managers and admins see all requests for their properties.
Can an owner request cleaning?
Yes. An OWNER can request cleaning from the reservation modal. The request goes to the /cleaning centre and can be assigned to a cleaner.
Does the system send cleaning notifications?
Yes. Managers receive EventEntry notifications for new requests and status changes, while cleaners receive an email and a CleaningBell notification when assigned.

AI Booking Assistant: How a Virtual Assistant Increases Direct Bookings
Every accommodation owner knows the problem: visitors land on the website, look around, and leave without booking. A large part of that traffic asks the same questions — is it available? how much? is parking included? An AI Virtual Assistant answers instantly, in the guest's own language, and guides them to the right apartment.
Packages and rate plans: more bookings from different guest groups
The nightly price is no longer enough. Guests compare what they get: breakfast, parking, thermal bath entry, a cot for a child. A ready package answers those needs immediately, which is why it more often ends in a booking.
Rate plans that take work off managers and reception
Every extra — breakfast, parking, a pet, thermal baths — is another question, another calculation and another email. Rate plans in Simplevent turn those exceptions into ready rules that a manager sets once and the system applies to every booking.
